People of Montana, the candidates you vote for this election will affect whether your children and grandchildren will have a future. A recent report shows that total wildlife numbers on the planet have declined by half in the last 40 years. Even before the other animals are all gone, humans will go extinct. We absolutely cannot survive without functioning ecosystems. Thus, if the wildlife numbers keep going down at the same rate for the next 40 years, all the children born in the last 10 years will be dead before they are 50 years old, along with everyone and nearly everything else.
My colleagues and I warned Governor Racicot, then Governor Martz, and all governors since, that wildlife of all kinds and human newborns began having a much higher prevalence of birth defects beginning in spring of 1995, and the prevalence has continued to increase since. The “warning nullifiers” (kudos to Glenn Morris for this excellent term), especially Governor Racicot and Governor Martz and all the Montana State Agencies they told to cover up the problem (I have many of their written communications), became adamant “warning nullifiers.”
The prevalence of birth defects on wild grazing animals is now so high throughout the U.S. that a new organization, Western Wildlife Ecology, has been formed, which is headquartered in Utah to address this serious problem. The link to their website is www.westernwildlifeecology.org in case you are interested.
Ask the people for whom you plan to vote if they will to do something to find and mitigate the cause of the birth defects if they are elected. Or will they just join the ranks of the “warning nullifiers”? Your children’s future should be the most important factor for which you vote.
