Winners/losers. If there is one, there is also the other, so in our culture we compete (fight) to be the one on top. Is it so hard to see that in this system there really are neither winners nor losers because the fight always goes on? There cannot be peace?
We are comfortable when we can feel “right,” which means someone else is “wrong” and we are “better” than they are. Same paradigm: tumbling, tumbling, struggling to be the one on top.
If we really look at other people’s lives — where and how they happened to be born, who their parents/siblings/influences happened to be, how their health/finances/environment turned out — and let go of our fear, can’t we see that under those circumstances we would have been much like them?
May we all — all — learn to feel grateful, fortunate, and share. All anyone really wants, after all, is to feel safe and be happy. It may just look different, depending on “where we’ve been” in our lives.
