Memorial Day: A Day of which those who died in active military service are remembered.
At the Corvallis Parade, I was disheartened to see that the true meaning of the day has given way to something other than the honoring of our men and women who have sacrificed so much. To some, it seems that it’s more about seeing who can fly the most various and vulgar flags in their pickup trucks. It’s a time to heckle and boo someone who isn’t of their political party.
When have we traded in human decency and polite disagreement for behavior that would not be tolerated on the school playground?
