By Mark Van Loon, Hamilton
Literally. If you, despite all the evidence, choose not to wear a face mask or follow the protocols of the county health professionals, I’ll not debate the issue with you. I accept your choice. But you must accept responsibility for your actions. Have the courage of your convictions. To that end, if you get Covid-19:
Pledge NOT to accept medical care.
Pledge NOT to endanger doctors, nurses and the medical staff.
Pledge NOT to use up precious hospital space and medical supplies.
Pledge NOT to endanger other citizens – grocery, bank, restaurants, etc.
In short, go home and self isolate. Either heal or die.
Write out this pledge, with all your contact information and sign it and have it notarized and distribute it to police, fire and medical emergency personnel. Also to your doctor, county health officials and all hospitals and medical facilities in your area. They should put you on a “do not respond to” database and make it public.
Your actions affect others. If you choose NOT to be part of the solution, then it’s your problem. Not ours.
Roger Mitchell says
Put your money where your mouth is. A very provocative challenge! Perhaps you might want to “triple dog dare” those who are reticent.
As a matter of fact, I have. And am. See my current display ad in both the Bitterroot Start and the Ravalli Republic. Together, these have cost me literally hundreds of dollars, which have cut into my operating budget, but I believe in what I am doing. I am willing to put my money where my mouth is.
Where is the evidence that you are paying for any of your opinions?
No Lockdowns! No Mask Mandates! No More!
Mike Miller says
Literally, the evidence states this Chinese virus has a survivability rating of +/- 99%. The evidence also states many false positives were reported, people not even tested were counted as positive, and people dying of other things (like auto accidents!) were counted as covid deaths. No mask is capable of stopping this virus, as it’s .1 micron in size.
You can’t debate these facts.
Yet, here you (and other fearful Chicken Littles) are, debating it.
Loon.
David Welch says
We are all well aware of your profound ignorance of epidemiology, administrative law and pretty much every topic you so arrogantly pontificate on. You make this clear with every post.
But the question at hand is: will you take this pledge? Do you have the courage of your convictions?
If so, prove it. If not, go crawl back under the rock you came out from and stop bothering decent people.
Mike Miller says
You can be upset all you want, David.
But past your pettiness, both the CDC and the Montana sites on covid state +/- 98% survivability. I’ve tried to post the links on this site, but they won’t post my letters when I do. So, feel free to look for yourself.
Bill LaCroix says
Loon. Really. You’re spreading lies and calling them facts, endangering people you don’t even know, and you use the word ‘loon’. BTW it’s not the ‘Chinese virus’. that’s racist. Let’s calling the trumpster virus. You guys own it now.
Mike Miller says
I’m only stating what the CDC and the Montana site have posted. Does that make me a liar?
I’m not racist for calling it a Chinese virus; it originated there according to many sources. You clearly ignore the facts that it stared there.
if you’re so ‘SJW’ and worried about racism, you should stop eating at Mexican restaurants. Since you have a french name, is is racist you’re writing in English? There’s really no need to answer that, as it’s as ridiculous as you saying I’m racist for calling it what it is and where it came from.
Loon. It’s the guy’s last name who wrote the OP piece.
michelle kirsch says
Gosh is that why the Chinese call ignorance the American disease.
Mike Miller says
Your comment is ignorantly sad, and using lacriox’s mindset, clearly racist.
The covid-19 virus has been traced to a Chinese ‘wet market’. A ‘wet market’ is usually poorly regulated for health/safety concerns, and are linked to “zoonotic diseases”, where SARS also originated from. Gosh, that’s a “pattern”!
Let’s talk more about ‘chinese’ and ‘ignorance’. Here’s some things Chinese think is good for you, and/or is just a good thing in general: “snake blood wine”, ‘tiger penis’, etc. Let’s just get to the horrifying part of chinese and ignorance: eating various live animals, from drunken shrimp to donkeys to dogs burned alive. I challenge you to look these up and verify for yourself.
Speaking of ignorance, wearing a mask that can’t stop a virus the size of .1 micron is literally not working.
Gosh, I could go on, but hopefully, you’re intelligent to realize your statement is itself ignorant. There’s nothing wrong with not knowing; there is something wrong with not learning. Please learn.
