Vote for the future

October 13, 2020 by Guest Post

Mayor Brandon Dewey, Stevensville

There is no question that the issue of whether I should be recalled has become one that is charged and polarizing in our community. We have witnessed a style of campaigning by Leslie Tadvick and her Committee to Recall the Mayor that goes beyond decency, blatantly distorting the truth and spinning fictitious slander from fact. The conventional wisdom is that in order to win an election, you have to dumb it down and play to your constituency’s basic divisive instincts. When somebody wins an election like that, they win – that is true, but the rest of us lose.

The question we should all be asking ourselves is why we would want the leader of our community to fail? What does that person’s failure say about the success of our community? Does the good faith signing of an agreement, which was deemed necessary and ultimately approved by the Town Council, warrant what would be a setback for the progress we have made together over the past three years?

It is true that 254 signatures were collected on the recall petition, representing 20 percent of our electorate. This leaves 80% of Stevensville’s voters who have not yet weighed in, officially. We now know that several who signed the petition, including Councilmember Dempsey Vick, have since come forward to renounce the petition, feeling misled and deceived by signature gatherers.

Voting in favor of the recall opens the door for the tawdry politics and corruptive practices you’ve seen deployed against the Mayor’s office and the people of our great community. They win and the rest of us lose. A vote against the recall will continue the trajectory of success and prosperity for Stevensville. Please vote for the future of our community as you return your ballots over the coming weeks.

    Leanna,
My advice to Becky would be to pay no mind to you as you love the word “deflection” and you are a pro at it.

I would tell her not to let you get to her because you treat everybody you don’t agree with like this or worse.

    P.S. I appreciated Beckys comment.

So what you are saying Dewey, is that if the town recalls you, no matter who takes office will be corrupt.

What arrogance. You have stated publicly now that no one will be honest, trust worthy. Wow..

    Mayor Dewey,

You started your corrupt practices the very first night I was appointed mayor back in 2016. You came into the office, and told me that the best thing for me and the Town was for me not to accept the appointment. That no one trusts me, that no one would work for me, that no one liked me.

You as a low level clerk who had never had a full time job told that to me, the Council President., newly appointed Mayor that I was unworthy of the job.

I told you in front of the Clerk that I expected everyone to show up for work the next day and shook your hand. Guess what. You came to work the next day.

There are a bunch of other reasons. The dignity of the town should be maintained.

But I am going to say this. You filed a grievance claiming I created a hostile work environment. The report showed I did not.

All but one of the people involved in that office are gone. And yet the hostile work environment continues to exist. So I reckon it was not one of the three of us. You are still there and it exists. What does that tell you?

You do not think any of the rules apply to you. Just like taking sick time, being paid sick time by the town and working for another organization on sick time. You did that remember…….

You should hit the reset button, learn some manners, and work ethics. You need to go get a job and work for a living awhile instead of thinking you are above it.

Jim, this comment demonstrates for all the world to see how condescending, rude and belittling you are. There was not one office staff member who did not complain about your hostile attitude and terrible treatment of them. Your attitude towards the administrative staff was always that of “I am Mayor, or. Former Mayor in my case, and you staff are nothing but low level peons”. In fact, one office clerk was so traumatized by the way you treated her, she took 30 days administrative leave to regain her mental health. You were named in my claim against Council because of this very same demeaning treatment. The clerk before me and after me also named you as a bully and one of the reasons they resigned. Please stop. Your hatred and ill-placed superior attitude does not help our community move forward.

Mr. Dewey, believes or purports to believe, that if you vote for the recall you are in favor of “corruptive practices.” Here is the meaning of this phrase: abuse of power for private benefits. Guess he ought to know about this. His signing of the illegal contract and then hiding it for 3 months, pretty much defines this for us.
No matter how you slice this denial of wrongdoing, It still stinks.
You need to accept your errors, Dewey. Won’t stop the recall, but it might just help with your damaged soul.

“He who casts the first stone” and “those who live in glass houses”….ever heard that before Leanna? Better check your own reflection in the mirror.

Are you like Dewey and do nothing but deflection? I am sorry but I don’t know what you are referring to in regards to me. Looks like you might be the one with a problem. Apparently you have no issues with supporting a criminal. And no last name. You like to hide, too.
