Despite Paul O’Bagy’s impressive will power and strength, his heroic battle with cancer tragically ended on September 10, 2023 in Missoula, Montana.
Paul’s quick thinking, sense of humor, and his generous nature made him loved and appreciated as a husband, father, friend, and revered accountant. He was a kind and genuine man who gave his full attention and support to everyone no matter how big or small the matter. Whether giving tax and business advice, personal advice, or lending a hand to his neighbors, he could always be counted on.
After the death of his father at age 11, Paul became the ‘man of the house’ and helped support his mother and seven siblings by working two jobs the next school year. That work ethic continued throughout his life. After moving to Missoula, he met and married the love of his life, Carol. They were soulmates and their marriage was admired by all who knew them. She encouraged and supported him while he completed a Bachelors in Business, and a Masters in both Accounting & Business Administration, followed by his certification as a Certified Public Accountant.
Paul was legendary for his firearm knowledge, hunting prowess, and love of the outdoors. To hunt with Paul and his brothers was a privilege, an honor and a damn good time! Another passion for Paul was flying, which started as a child with his late father. He enjoyed all types of flying and different types of airplanes. After obtaining his pilot’s license, he also received his instrument, float plane, commercial, and multi-engine ratings. He flew as often as time and weather permitted and he and Carol and many flying buddies logged extensive hours going to fly-ins such as Oshkosh, Sun ‘n Fun, as well as different backcountry strips. Paul shared his love of flying with everyone he knew and, true to his nature, he donated his time and airplane for several years helping children experience flying through the Young Eagles program.
Paul is survived by his wife Carol, his children Alisa, Jeff, and BJ (Howard); his mother, Barbara; sisters Carolyn (John), Laura, Mary (Luc), Janalee; and brother Peter. He is preceded in death by his father Paul and brothers Scott and David. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Paul was honored in a celebration of life on Saturday, September 23, 2023 commencing at 11:00 A.M. at the Crossroads Christian Fellowship Church, 1297 Meridian Road, Victor Montana. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
