This headline was published by the conservative magazine, The Dispatch. The following was written by David French, a columnist for the Atlantic Magazine.
“The church has formed its members to be adamant about policies that are difficult and contingent and flexible about virtues that are clear and mandatory. You’re not kind until kindness doesn’t work. You’re to be kind even through the most brutal acts of repression and in the face of complete political defeat.”
To live a life that pleases God, a true Christian must at times make a sacrifice in order to be a good-hearted, kind and humble person. However, Republican evangelicals are the opposite, they do not lay aside their anger and hate for others, instead they sacrifice their own morals, ethics and character and continue to follow Trump’s fascist, unlawful and unconstitutional lies.
Sinclair Lewis wrote, “When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.” And this is the cult of Trump where his followers are more attuned with the Taliban and the Khmer Rouge.
Jesus said, “These people honor me with their lips yet their hearts are far from me.” And this is the far right Republican Party today which ignores the most basic requirements of Christianity which includes taking care of the poor, the sick and those in prison. Republicans are the Biblical “goats” who use God as a pretense to lie and hate and hurt others.
Any Republican who claims to be a follower of Jesus must exemplify empathy for others, kindness, patience and forgiveness. Trump has fleeced the sheep and now the sheep are so self-righteous or ignorant they cannot admit they are unable to tell the truth from lies or right from wrong. There are no greater examples of hate and anti-American values than Republican evangelical Christians who follow Trump.

Mark Snider, I respectfully disagree. I fail to see how any Christian be anything but a Conservative Republican. Let us look at what are largest positions of the Liberal today. Tax upon tax, forced jabs even for children not largely at risk. Kill more babies at the mothers whim. Change the genders of your son’s and daughters, or worse let them identify as cats and dogs. Perhaps you would be better served to understand that the left is leading the charge against humanity and natural law, which is God’s law.
I pray daily that the people quit turning a blind eye to the atrocities of the left across the globe. And thus I pray for you as well.

Agreed, those who worship Trump have become a cult, and like all cult leaders, he manipulates his brainwashed followers to boost his own fragile ego and for his own financial gain. The hardest thing that they’ll ever have to admit is that they been conned.

Exactly Gomez. It all comes down to what fairy tale they wish to believe in. No proof anywhere of any “god.” Religion was invented to control the masses just as cult leaders like the orange fool does.
