Recall Mayor Dewey

October 13, 2020 by Guest Post

By Mark Adams, Stevensville

I will start by quoting a passage from District Court Judge Hon Howard F. Recht’s ruling against Mayor Dewey.

“By soliciting a quote from First Call outside of the channel utilized by the Town Council, by receiving and opening the quote in private, and by proceeding to execute the First Call Contract on his own without notice to or approval from the Town Council and outside of a public meeting, Dewey acted outside of the law and without legal authority. By doing so, he violated several statutes, ordinances, and the Purchasing Policy, as well as the policy’s stated purpose to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and Town ordinances for all expenditures and to make ‘open purchasing decisions’; and he deprived the citizenry of Stevensville of their rights to participate in and to know what their government was doing.”

That sums up Dewey’s tenure in office. Why? Because it is not the only time he has spent money without Town Council approval. There was over $7000 in fireworks that the Town paid for that was not in the budget and was not approved in advance. Then when Audree Tribbensee filed a complaint against a Councilmember, Dewey hired an attorney out of Missoula at over $3000. Again, without the Council’s knowledge or approval.

Instead of spending taxpayers’ money on frivolous adventures, Dewey should have been working on important issues like getting water rights for the areas in Town limits that do not have water rights now. Speaking of water, does Stevensville even have enough water resources to supply existing demand? If you look at the most recent Town Council agenda packet under the claims section, the electricity bill went up by $3000 for the month due to the pumps at the wells running full time. Why are the pumps running full time? Is it because of increased demand or a decreased supply or both?

Narcissist- (.a few traits) – MAYOR DEWEY
A person who has excessive interest in or admiration of themselves.
Rarely admits flaws. and are highly aggressive when criticized.
    Ruler breaker and boundary violations.
The lack of empathy leads them to take advantage of people with no regrets.
    Frequent lies and exaggeration.

You certainly could be describing yourself.
I’ve never once heard or you admit that you are wrong.
Your constant character assassinations of the Mayor are getting old and tiring.
He’s a good man and the relentless barrage of attacks against him by a handful of disgruntled people is beyond ridiculous.

What Dawn posted was “Shameful, sad” & hypocritical.

What I stated is my opinion and I stand by it.
The attacks against our Mayor are getting old. He has done a lot of good things for this community and is still doing a lot for Stevensville . He loves this town. He is the obvious choice to move our town forward.

If this recall goes through who do you think of the few who have expressed interest in this position is actually qualified to be Mayor?
