I stand with Mayor Dewey!

October 13, 2020 by Guest Post

By Audree Tribbensee, Stevensville

Stevensville has been held hostage by a small handful of mean-spirited bullies. This reign of terror needs to stop! Shortly after the people spoke in their election and Mayor Dewey took office in 2018, Stevensville Town Council President Bob Michalson sent Council Member Holcomb an e-mail that exposed their malicious intent to continue their bullying antics. To paraphrase, Michalson said they needed to make Dewey’s life so miserable, like they did former Mayor Ludington, that Mayor Dewey would resign.

Michalson and his friends have displayed repeatedly how they have honored their word and commitment to run the Mayor out of town. The recall effort is the latest stunt to satisfy the thirst of a small group of special interests for power in Town Hall. For some reason, I believe they crave the dysfunction and irresponsible leadership that will someday sink this Town if those interests are successful.

Michalson has tried over and over to find fault in Brandon and the Town’s staff. These efforts have resulted in the resignation of three Town Clerks in less than three years due to the unbearable and hostile environment they continue to maintain. I know this first-hand because I am one of the three who resigned.

Please do not buy into the twisted facts and outright lies spewed by the Mayor’s opposition. Stevensville has seen too many years of this divisive and destructive collusion.

This community deserves a positive and peaceful future.

We can longer bury our heads in the sand and overlook the sad situation that they continue to agitate. We must confront the injustices they boldly hand out and stop the bullying. If we ignore the issues in an effort to appear neutral, we are part of the problem.

Please get the facts before you vote on the recall. Mayor Dewey is a great leader with proven leadership. He has withstood the abuse and bullying tactics for too many years. While I am sure it would have been easier to walk away, like I and others I worked with did, Mayor Dewey is showing his strength and caring for our community by standing up to these bullies. He continues to accomplish amazing things for our community despite the attacks that he, his family, and this community have endured.

Stand with me in support of Mayor Dewey!
