Florence – Beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Harold Lee Greer, passed away of natural, heart related causes at home on September 10th, 2020. He was born in Kansas City Missouri March 8, 1938 to Harold and Vera (Johnson) Greer.
Harold Lee was raised in Kansas City and graduated high school in 1956. After working summer jobs in various family and other west Kansas ranches, he decided to pursue a college degree in Agricultural Engineering at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, which he achieved in 1961.
He shared a wonderful life partnership of 63 years with Hettie Mae Steinman, whom he married in 1957.
Lee began a career in the U.S. Forest Service in 1961, and served for 32 years before retiring. He loved working for the U.S. Forest Service as a Highway Engineer, loved his job, and loved the people he met and people he worked with. (He was not so fond of meeting bears or rattlesnakes on a trail!) After retirement in the Bitterroot Valley, he enjoyed a post-retirement job at the NAPA in Stevensville for around five years. He supported the National Museum of Forest Service History in Missoula in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hettie, of Florence; daughters Falena Greer of Florence and Nory Greer-Guitar (Steve) of Elko, Nevada; three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, and brother, Jerry Greer, of Lone Jack, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Vera Greer.
Harold Lee was a deeply loving, private and spiritual person, of great integrity and strength. He will be deeply missed.
In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. The family will celebrate his life privately.
