The annual Bob Reed Ravalli County track meet was held Saturday in Corvallis with the six high schools from the valley competing. As expected, Corvallis dominated both the boys and girls team scoring with Hamilton following.
Hamilton’s Cariann Kunkel won two events and her marks were good enough to put her in the top 10 in the state in each event. Kunkel cleared the high jump bar at 5-4 which is the top mark in the state for Class A right now and fifth in all classes. Her javelin throw of 129-6 won the event and is seventh in the state and second in Class A. She also was third in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump. Hamilton’s Lyric Devries won both the 1,600 and the 3,200.
Corvallis’ Calla Haldorson already holds the best mark in the state in the discus with a throw of 153-05. On Saturday she won that event again with a throw of 145-7. Haldorson won the shot put event with a throw 37-3 which qualifies her for state in that event and is the fifth best put in the state right now. To win the high jump and qualify for state. Albright also won the 300 hurdles by just over four-seconds.
Ridge Albright of Corvallis was also a double winner. He cleared 6-4
Casey Ehmann of Darby won the 300 hurdles and qualified for state in that event with a time of 48.39. Ehmann was third in the 100 hurdles. Gracie Lang finished second in the 3,200.
Florence’s Brooklyn Newbary won both the 100 and 200 meter races. Teammate Jethro Thorne stepped out of his comfort zone of the 400 and ran the 800 with a winning time of 2:06.74.
