Loretta ‘Otis’ Morrell

January 15, 2014 by Editor

Missoula – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our “sweetheart” of a wife, Mom, and Granny, Loretta “Otis” Morrell, 78.

Loretta was born to August and Augustine Hertz on June 3, 1935 on the family farm in Charlo MT. Loretta graduated from Charlo High School in 1953. She moved to Missoula and married the late Don Anderson. Loretta was a devoted mother to her six children. In 1975 Loretta married Rollie Morrell and in June 2013, they celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. Following retirement from the University of Montana, Loretta spent countless hours gardening, quilting, knitting and crafting homemade gifts for her family and friends. Her circle of friends and giving increased with Martha Ministries at Christ the King Church. Loretta and Rollie were active members of the Good Sam Club, Missoula Hellgate Car Club and Early Ford V8 Club. She enjoyed traveling, bowling and playing pinochle. Loretta’s greatest joy was being “Granny” to her 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Loretta is survived by her husband Rollie; five children: Theresa (Gary) Dickhaut, Dave (Shellie) Anderson, Kim (Gerry) Mercer, Sam (Tina) Anderson and Sue (Shane) Anderson; two stepchildren: Rod Morrell and Jeff (Rose) Morrell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Richard and son Danny Joe.
Services were held at Christ the King Church with a Vigil on Friday, January 10 and a funeral on Saturday, January 11.
May God look over us until we meet again, we love you Granny! Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
