Hamilton defeated Laurel, 10-0, in their opening game at the Laverne Combo Tournament in Butte on Friday. Kaytlyn Menk was the winning pitcher and allowed only three hits by the Locomotives. McKayl Rothie and Menk each powered a home run. Menk went 2-for-3 at bat and also had an RBI. Rothie was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Taylor Goligoski finished with two RBIs and was 3-for-3 at bat.
Hamilton’s second game of the day was against the Butte Central Maroons. This was the second time they’d played each other in a week. Hamilton was again the victor, holding on for a 2-1 win. Brie Clifford was the pitcher for the Lady Broncs and only allowed two hits. Shay Mohn went 1-for-3 and had a double and an RBI.
Hamilton clobbered Browning, 24-0, in their first game at the Combo tournament on Saturday. The Lady Broncs brought in 19 runs in the first inning. The game was only three innings long. Taylor Goligoski had two doubles and six RBIs. Tayler Reynolds also had two doubles. Mohn, Rothie, Clifford and Zohner all had multiple RBIs and Sabrina Friday and Kloie Nye each had an RBI.
The Lady Broncs defeated Lewistown, 7-2, in their second game of the day. Clifford took the win and allowed only four hits. Friday, Menk, Nye and Zohner each had an RBI.
On Friday, Corvallis lost to Havre, 5-1. Zena Smith took the loss for the Blue Devils who also had three errors. Gianna Schrock, Taia Tully, Miquela Kriskovich and Hannah Capko all went 1-for-3.
Corvallis also lost to Hardin, 9-6. The Blue Devils had nine hits in the game but couldn’t capitalize on them. Taylor Gagnon was the losing pitcher. Kelsey Irwin went 2-for-3. Schrock was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Tully had two RBIs.
Corvallis lost another close game. The Blue Devils fell one run short in the final inning and lost, 7-6. Kriskovich went 1-for-2 and had a double and an RBI. Taia Tully went 2-for-3 and had an RBI.
In their opening game, Stevensville topped Livingston, 11-6, in non-conference action at the Butte tournament. Alycia Sims was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Carly Vercruyssen, who was the winning pitcher, went 2-for-4. Megan Elam was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Stevensville lost a close game to Billings Central. The Rams picked up three runs in the final inning to claim the win. Carly Vercruyssen took the loss. Bailey Vercruyssen, Emalie Lewis and Megan Finley each had RBIs.
Stevensville topped Browning, 15-0 in a three-inning game. Carly Vercruyssen was the pitcher with Maddie Moesch and Jenna Lockman catching. Bailey Vercruyssen went 1-for-2 and had two RBIs. Lockman had a double and had an RBI.
Stevensville also played Havre. The Yellowjackets fell short in the final inning and lost, 8-7. Carly Vercruyssen pitched while Megan Finley was the catcher. Alycia Sims went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Megan Elam and Finley also had RBIs. Stevi only had one error in the game.
Florence played at the tournament on Saturday. The Lady Falcon’s ace pitcher, Courtney Byrne, allowed only one hit against Columbus, topping the eastern team, 13-0. Byrne was also 2-for-3 at bat with a double and three RBIs. Stephanie Drozdz added two RBIs. Cazz Skeers went 2-for-4 with a double.
Florence also played Class A Whitefish. The Lady Falcons defeated the Bulldogs, 11-0. Byrne not only had the win but also had a double and two RBIs. Kyla Hill also had two RBIs.
Florence swept Thompson Falls in their final home standing of the year on Thursday. Senior Courtney Byrne returned from an injury to pick up her 55th win of her high school career. Florence won the first game 14-0 and then followed up with a 28-0 drubbing of Thompson Falls. The Lady Falcons will have the No. 1 seed at the divisional this weekend. The top four teams will advance to the state tournament in Great Falls next week.
