Hamilton School District #3 has been awarded a planning grant of $25,000 by the Department of Commerce. This funding comes with a matching requirement of $6,250 to the school district.
“This program is one of Governor Brian Schweitzer’s priority initiatives,” said Dore Schwinden, Director of the Montana Department of Commerce, in an award letter to the school. “The Governor recognizes the need for assistance to schools across Montana. He worked very hard to make these funds available to meet the needs of worthy recipients such as your school.”
HSD3 is required to use the funding to take a thorough look at Daly Elementary School, plan the improvements needed, and use this information to apply for a project grant they hope will be forthcoming from the Department of Commerce.
“This grant is very important for our future efforts to obtain funding for improvements to the Daly School,” said Duby Santee, HSD3 Superintendent, “We were successful with this approach in receiving a $750,000 grant to update the heating system at Washington School this coming summer.”
