Our educational system is in deep trouble. In a recent letter to you a writer stated that 90% of those testifying at the May 26 Commissioners’ meeting were in favor of having the Commissioners, not the voters, decide on airport expansion. Regardless of one’s position on this matter there’s a troubling mathematical error in her letter. Alerted to the actual testimony by several attendees I viewed the video (www.rcwatchdog.org) of the meeting and noted that 11 of 20 speakers were for the voters’ right to vote and 9 favored letting the commissioners decide, thereby abrogating the decision of previous commissioners. Schooling of some 70 years ago taught me that 11 of 20 represents 55% The remaining 45% does not, I repeat does not, equate to 90%. Thanks to www.rcwatchdog.org for letting us see our commissioners in action.
