Lending a hand - GSK employees take part in Orange DayBy Michael Howell Nearly 80 volunteers from GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals Hamilton site recently took part in GSKs Orange Day program on April 21 and 22. The spirit of Orange Day is about making a difference in the community where we live and work by giving employees time to support local non-profit organizations. Each GSK employee is allocated one volunteer day per year to give back to their community. Orange Day initiatives are kicked off by giving employees the choice of numerous local charities to donate their time and energy. An Orange Day sponsor and team leaders are then assigned to each project to coordinate volunteer activities with each organization. GSK Event Coordinator Kelly King explained, Orange Days is different from our Community Outreach efforts as this is a donation of time, not money. It provides an opportunity to focus the strength of our work force and make a large impact on select local charities and non-profit organizations throughout Ravalli County. Effort under way to form a Tourism Business Improvement DistrictBy Michael Howell A steering committee has been established and an effort is underway to gather the signatures required to form a Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) in Ravalli County. Steering Committee members Marie Christopher and Tim Beilby gave the County Commissioners a heads up last week about their efforts because, if successful, the County would collect and administer the assessments.
