National EMS Week celebrated
EMS never sleeps! Whether you show up at the Marcus Daly Emergency Department or call 911, the local Emergency Medical Services Team is there to care for you or your loved one 24 hours/day, 7days a week. During the week of May 16-22, Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital recognized the personnel who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicines front line. Emergency physicians and nurses and emergency medical technicians and paramedics are professionally trained and their actions can often make the difference between life and death.
In one year, Marcus Dalys Emergency Department cared for nearly 10,000 patients and the ambulance service responded to well over 3000 calls. No matter what time of day, when you have an emergency, Marcus Dalys Emergency Team is ready for you.
The Emergency Department is staffed with an emergency physician and medical team at all times and in most cases, the ambulance crews located in Hamilton and Stevensville will be at your door in less then 20 minutes. The ambulance service is staffed by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics providing medical emergency transport coverage throughout Ravalli County, an area roughly 2000 square miles. Both crews have advanced life support skills, allowing the staff to administrator a level of care that in many cases will reduce permanent damage or even save a life. Statistics prove that patients needing advanced care levels have better outcomes when treatment is started early. Treatment begins with the ambulance crews arrival and it is continued upon arrival of the emergency department. Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital is committed to the Emergency Medical Services and their continued success, because it is in line with the hospitals mission of providing quality, accessible, personalized healthcare.
During National Emergency Services week, the hospital saluted all the well trained individuals who provide these very important and necessary medical and life saving services to the community. EMTs and Paramedics are there at all times of the day and night, working in inclement weather and other dangerous conditions putting their own lives in precarious circumstances.

Robbins earns Eagle Scout rank
Kolton Robbins recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was honored at an Eagle Court held at Aspen Hospice on Bell Crossing. Robbins, the son of Owen and Jeannie Robbins, designed and built a gazebo at Aspen Hospice. He said he built this gazebo to honor his grandfathers John Robbins and Kenneth McPherson who have passed away.
The gazebo sits atop a bluff and looks over a small marsh. It is a quiet, peaceful setting where those who are undergoing stress can take time to reflect and think. Greg Sangster, president of Aspen Hospice, said he thought that not only family members but also his own staff would use the gazebo and stressed that members of the community are also welcome to use it.
Kolton Robbins is 15 years old and is home schooled. He has been in Scouting for eight years. He likes music and plays both the violin and the guitar. For the Eagle Court, he played the National Anthem on his electric guitar. He said he learned a lot about designing and building a structure during his project. It took him about seven months to complete the project.
