Trying to sleep in the daytime just outside the Stevensville Elementary School buildings is not easy. But one mother owl is giving it a try despite the stir that is being created on the sidewalk below by her presence. She opened her eyes wide as a line of students moving between classes all hooted as they went by. One student walking by alone said, as I was taking this photo, “Wow! I never thought I’d really see an owl. And now I see one in the daylight!” 
A Great Horned Owl is attempting to raise a family in a tall fir tree just outside the Stevensville Elementary School buildings. The owl has built a nest about three quarters of the way up the tree that stands within a few feet of the 4-6 grade building and has become a campus celebrity. This reporter saw at least one baby owl in the nest on Monday. Stevi supports grant application to extend sewer to Selway CorporationBy Michael Howell Following a public hearing held Monday, May 11, the Stevensville Town Council agreed to support a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for economic development that would extend the Town’s sewer line to Selway Corporation and other properties north of town. At the same meeting it was decided to approve a $5,000 expenditure to study the potential of establishing a Tax Increment Financing District (TIFD) in the same area. If the effort to establish the TIFD is successful it would culminate in the properties being annexed into the Town. More...
