PUBLIC COMMENTS ON LEE METCALF NWR OUTDOOR CLASSROOMLee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) is in the process of collecting written public comments for the construction of a new Outdoor Classroom on the Refuge. This structure will measure 20 x 40 and will be timber framed incorporating mortise and tenon joints. The Friends of the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge are proposing to build this. As a unit of the National Wildlife Refuge System, the Refuge is required by law [National Wildlife Refuge System Administration Act of 1966 and the National Wildlife System Improvement Act of 1997, 16 U.S.C. 668dd-668ee (Refuge Administration Act)] to determine if a proposed public use is compatible with the mission of the National Wildlife Refuge System and the specific purpose of the Refuge. The proposed project has initially been determined to be compatible by the Refuge Project Leader. Materials (the compatibility determination, location map, and design drawing) for public review are located at the North Valley Public Library (Stevensville) and at the Refuge Headquarters.
