Golden AgersThe Golden Age group meets every Friday from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at 727 S. 5th in Hamilton. If you are a senior citizen and are bored, looking for fun or just want something new to experience, attend and enjoy good food, live music, dancing and fellowship. Cost is $5. Snacks are potluck. The Valley Rhythm Boys will play December 26 and Dick Reinbolds Band on January 2. Exercise classes are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. The next business meeting is January 7, following a 12:30 potluck dinner.

Suicide Loss SupportSuicide Loss Support holds informal meetings the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at the community room of the North Valley Public Library, 208 Main and the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at Aspen Hospice, 230 Marcus St. in Hamilton. When you suffer a loss due to suicide the grief is overwhelming. Most people don't know "just how you feel." What you can expect from SLS is someone who has experienced a loss from suicide to listen to you privately, or in a group setting. You may choose to be present but it is ok not to speak if you are not ready. SLS cares. Your loss matters and your grief is very real. SLS will support you in every way possible. SAFE support groupsSAFE, Supporters of Abuse Free Environments, hosts weekly ongoing support groups for women and children. Womens groups focus on healing from domestic and sexual violence, building self-esteem, inner reflection, creative expression and other topics of interest to women. Come as often or as little as you want. Groups are held weekly on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Childrens Groups are held on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Children work on self-exploration, boundaries, and conflict resolution. This group is for ages 5 to 12. Teen Group is held every Thursday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. This group is for ages 13-18 and focuses on teen issues, dating and healthy relationships. Caregiver coffee breakAre you one of the millions of Americans who help someone else by providing companionship, preparing meals, running errands, driving to doctors appointments or by simply doing whatever needs to be done to assist someone who is ill or homebound? Aspen Hospice recognizes the complexity of caregiving and offers a time of respite. Whether or not the person you care for receives services from Aspen Hospice, you, as a caregiver, can find encouragement, support and information at the Caregiver Coffee Break every Wednesday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at 230 Marcus Street in Hamilton. Singing Lilies groupAny women who enjoy singing two- and three-part harmony to a wide variety of piano-accompanied music are invited to join Lilies of the Valley singing group. After-School ProgramTwo Creeks School, located at 258 Roosevelt Lane in Hamilton, is offering an after-school program Monday-Thursday from 3 to 5:30 p.m. for public, private, and home schooled students in grades K-8. Students in the Two Creeks Bridges after-school program will have access to the Two Creeks School library, learning resources, art supplies and play materials as well as a large outdoor play area, nutritious snacks, and help with homework. The Two Creeks Bridgesafter-school program allows students to transition from a busy school day to home in a positive, stress-free environment. Students who ride the school bus are met by a Two Creeks School staff member at the bus stop each day. Hamilton Elks dinnerThe Hamilton Elks host a dinner open to the public every Wednesday night the Hamilton Elks lodge, 203 State Street. The menu is different each week and the cost is $8.00. The October 14 dinner is breaded shrimp, coleslaw, baked potato, dessert and coffee. Serving begins at 6 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Elks scholarship fund.
Suppertime at SVCFCSuppertime@SVCFC is a free community dinner for families and those needing a good, nutritious meal. Meals are served on Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at South Valley Child and Family Center, 515 Madison in Hamilton. All meals are prepared in a professional kitchen by volunteers. Our Valley, Our Water Educational ForumAs part of their four-part educational forum scheduled through March 2010, the Bitter Root Water Forum is hosting a presentation on Technical and Financial Support for Improving Water Distribution and Usage in the Bitterroot on Wednesday, November 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Corvallis Grange Hall, 130 Dutch Hill Road, Corvallis. The Bitterroot watershed faces important questions regarding aging irrigation infrastructure, stream dewatering and matters related to distribution and use of irrigation water. This presentation will explore approaches for organizing stakeholders and obtaining technical and financial resources needed to address these important issues. The presentation will be of special interest to irrigation districts and those interested in enhancing in-stream flows. A panel of four speakers will contribute to the presentation. Andy Fisher, Irrigation Projects Manager with the Deschutes River Conservancy (DRC) will tell the story of how irrigators, conservationists, recreationists, and other stakeholders formed an organization that successfully addresses water use and conservation in the Deschutes watershed. The DRC program is a model locally-developed, cooperative effort addressing water concerns on a watershed basis. Steve Rolph, Water Resources Program Specialist with the Bureau of Reclamation, and John Moody, Water Resources Engineer and retired Irrigation Specialist with the Bureau of Reclamation, will present an overview of the Bureau of Reclamation /US Geological Survey Water Conservation Initiative Program. They will highlight elements of the program that support water projects on a watershed and irrigation district level with emphasis on programs that provide technical support and on preparation of System Optimization Reviews, a key step in obtaining financial support for water projects. Mark Zuber, Senior Engineer with the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Missoula, will describe how NRCS programs, such as the Agricultural Water Enhancement Program, provide technical and financial support to projects designed to improve water distribution and usage for agriculture and fish and wildlife habitat. Zuber will also discuss how the NRCS supports Montana irrigation districts. The BRWF is a non-profit community driven watershed group established to ensure clean, abundant surface and ground water in the Bitterroot watershed. Hospice volunteer trainingThe next Marcus Daly Hospice volunteer training class will be held Thursday and Friday, November 5 and 6 from 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, November 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Since 1983 dedicated volunteers have been assisting Hospice patients and family members in the Bitterroot Valley. Marcus Daly Hospice continues this tradition, providing training to individuals interested in helping and caring for others. Hospice volunteers work in a variety of areas such as patient support, small equipment delivery, bereavement support, and fundraising. New volunteers are always welcome and vitally important to the Hospice mission. North Valley Pachyderm ClubThe North Valley Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, November 6 at noon at the Frontier Cafe, U.S. 93 in Stevensville. The guest speaker will be Patrick Barkey, Bureau Director at the University of Montana's Bureau of Business and Economic Research. He will talk about the condition of the economy. North Valley Pachyderm Club meets the first and third Friday of each month. Everyone is welcome. The Pachyderm Club is an educational arm of the Republican Party.

Cunningham in concertThe Stevensville Playhouse presents Chris Cunningham along with Tom Catmull on Friday, November 6 at 7:30 p.m. Singer/songwriter and Red House recording artist Chris Cunningham is one half of the popular national touring act Storyhill. In 2007 his song "Paradise Lost", a lament about the rapid development in southwestern Montana, helped earn Storyhill the prestigious Kerville New Folk Songwriters Finalist award out of 800 applicants. When not on tour with Storyhill Chris splits his time playing solo shows around the region and producing music for other artists at Basecamp Recording, his recording studio located just outside of Bozeman. With a career spanning nearly 20 years Chris has produced a catalogue of over 15 albums of original material in his various groups in Storyhill, 2 Forms of ID with Justin Roth, Sixth Sense, a 4-piece acoustic band, and as a solo artist. As a producer/engineer he has worked with artists such as The Jeni Fleming Trio, Aaron Espe, Connor Gavey, Jaw Bone Rail Road, and many more. His passion for songwriting is evident in his shows as he frequently performs "test drive" versions of new songs and plays older songs in different ways. Safe schools workshopThe Montana Safe Schools Coalition will present Making Montana Schools Safer on Thursday, November 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Parish/Community Center, 411 S. 5th in Hamilton. Frosty Paws fundraiserSanta is coming to see your pets! Bitter Root Humane Association will hold its annual "Frosty Paws fundraiser on Saturday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, November 15, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Bedford Bldg. (City Hall), 223 S. 2nd St. in Hamilton. Once again the event will feature pet photos with Santa and a Holiday Pet Bazaar including many vendors, bake sale, the "Paws Cafe" and two raffles, a special one for an entire Direct TV system with one year's service fees included. Hamilton fall cleanupCity of Hamilton fall cleanup will be held November 16, 17, and 18. Town crews have been picking up bags that have already been placed curbside. However, the city is allowing more time for the rest of the leaves to fall. Pick-up on the north end of the city west of Hwy. 93 will be Monday, November 16, with the south end on Tuesday, November 17 and all properties within the city limits east of Hwy. 93 to be done on Wednesday, November 18. MOPS groupFor over 35 years, MOPS has been creating authentic communities where young moms gather to experience encouragement, support and hope. But, it doesnt stop there. Through training and development customized to women in this stage of life, and through do-able service opportunities, MOPS grows moms to make a better world. Although mothering preschoolers is at times a lonely challenge, MOPS is providing a welcome break for moms; a chance for moms to make new friends, enjoy a relevant speaker, discussion time and snacks, and most importantly, an opportunity for moms to know they are not alone in the struggles and joys of raising young children. The new Bitterroot MOPS group meets at Lone Rock Bible Church, around the corner from Lone Rock School, just off Eastside Hwy, down Three Mile Creek Road, between Stevensville and Florence. The group meets every other Thursday, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Age-appropriate childcare including snacks, stories and activities is available for children up through age five. Trout UnlimitedThe next BRTU general meeting will be Thursday, November 19. The title of the program is Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge and the Centennial Valley: Undiscovered Fishing and Birdwatching Opportunities. It will be presented by Jeffrey Warren who works at the Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. This is one of the most beautiful parts of Montana and it receives little pressure. Art Guild Christmas showBitterroot Art Guild in Hamilton is having its Annual Christmas Art and Craft Show on Friday, November 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, November 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hamilton Fairgrounds. Lots of art and crafts will be featured. Proceeds go to the scholarship fund for local students.
Corvallis Christmas BazaarSidewinders 4-H club and the Corvallis High School boys and girls basketball teams will be hosting the Corvallis Christmas bazaar on Saturday, November 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in both gyms at Corvallis High School.
