Vote no on Initiative 126. It is a farce. You can vote for any candidate of any party in the general election.
Voters that are registered to a certain party need to vote for a candidate of that party.
I have seen this same initiative used in other states. Here is an example of what happened after it passed. 126 says you can vote for either party’s candidate in the primary election. The top 4 vote getters regardless of party affiliation are then listed on the general election ballot. This initiative makes it easy for either party to sway the results of the primary election.
Here’s how they do it: Let us say you have parties B and S. Voters affiliated with party B vote in the primary for the weakest candidate of party S. The voters of party B know that if they vote for the weakest candidate of party S the weakest candidate of party S will be the one listed in the general election because they received more votes.
Then during the general election the weak S candidate now gets less votes during the general election because all the voters from party B now vote for their party’s candidate in the general election so they will win with more votes.
Do not be fooled. This is wrong. Each party needs to vote for their own party’s candidate.
Vote no on Initiative 126.

Laurie….WMA just proved that he doesn’t understand CI126. But from his previous posts it’s clear he is a liberal and an uneducated one. This is voter interference and manipulation. this is ranked choice voting. I hope all Montanans vote NO on all three constitutional initiatives.

I voted yes. One primary ballot instead of three or four. Simple, straightforward, streamlined. Makes sense to me. Might even improve our dismal primary voter participation rate.
