I have watched what has happened since the 1st executive order on 1/1/2025. I have seen, witnessed and felt that now I have no rights as a woman; there are no longer any rights for the disabled; no separation of church from state; denial of climate change coming to fruition with storms, droughts, fires; an anti-union/anti-worker administration; no voting rights protections; our Dept of Education dismantled; USAID dismantled; the Dept of Defense renamed to one of war and, of course, a war started, a war with no clear goals or end point in sight. Now I hear on the news that Trump wants to pay married parents to stay home with their kids even tho 80% of recipients of current funding are single mothers.
Trump is using every aspect of power, of his ability to control others, whether by intimidation, threats or money, to wipe out the work/efforts of generations (including mine, my mother’s), to wipe out the expansion of protections for non-males, especially non-white males. He’s been doing this since the 1st day in office. Ruling by executive order. Trump is narcissistic, racist, does not care for women; he’s power hungry. Why has Congress not acted? Are they all too busy making money (super PAC contributions, stock options, insider trading)? We must elect people who are willing to step up, be vocal, have a backbone, and to hold power to account. Frankly, I am afraid, afraid for me, for my kids, for my grandkids, for my husband, for this country, and for my state.
