Last council meeting the Stevensville school superintendent asked for support of their mill levy. I asked why these issues were not addressed with the last levy? Answer- “You don’t understand how this works”. How true that is! All I know is since attending council meetings beginning 1978, the superintendent just asks for more money. Can’t recall ever hearing a report of where any of the money goes. Looking up my tax bill I see that a majority of my taxes go for education (like 58%).Why don’t we eliminate the superintendent postion and all associated costs. Then take those funds and distribute 70% to the general school fund and the remaining 30% be paid to a volunteer willing to assume superintendent duties. Possibly there is a teacher, another administrator, secretary, student, or concerned citizen that can operate the school within the existing budget.
