Participation is crucial

September 30, 2026 by Guest Post

by Becky Peters, Hamilton

So we have a sick, selfish, lame duck president in the White House who is surrounded by MAGA sycophants and incompetents. Unbelievable! Add to that the fact that we are looking at a situation where his lackies could attempt to stop any Democrats who win in the upcoming mid-terms from taking their seats in Congress on Jan. 3rd. Don’t be fooled into thinking that an overwhelming election result by sane voters on Nov. 3rd will be the last step in saving our democracy. Remember how Pence saved us on that Jan 6th? I’m not sure we’ll be that lucky this time. With the combination of  Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation, rapture believer Mike Johnson, Russell Vought, giant corporations pulling strings, and Christian Nationalists pushing un-Christ like goals on every American, we need to be prepared.  Those groups have been working on  creating this chaos for decades. Voter confusion is just part of their strategies. Deceive the voters about the election system, disrupt the elections from going smoothly, and then deny the election outcome on Jan. 3rd. How on earth can any voter loyal to our constitution go along with the cowardice of the current Republican party? What can you, a citizen who believes in our republic do? Actively participate in our democracy, counter disinformation, vote, connect with your community, volunteer as a poll watcher, and be prepared to peacefully gather if the situation gets critical. Our participation is crucial, democracy is not a spectator sport.

    Frank,
Please back up your “thousands of arrests” claim with proof.

If you really want to counter disinformation, you need to delete this idiotic letter to the editor, No one, except delusional democrats, believes that insurrection garbage anymore AND, you probably don’t believe that the Wuhan flu came from the Wuhan lab! How are you doing with all of this “democrats never steal elections” crap in the midst of thousands of arrests for election fraud by democrats. You people are some of the sickest individuals of our society. It’s no wonder that your party has screwed things up so badly. Thank GOD for Trump!

“No one, except delusional democrats, believes that insurrection garbage anymore.”

Around 47% to 54% of Republicans characterized the incident as a “legitimate protest” or “legitimate political discourse” in various national polls. That means about half of Republicans DID NOT think that the attack on the Capitol was acceptable. Likewise, while about 40% of Republicans did support pardons for individuals convicted of crimes related to the January 6 attack, that means that about 60% DID NOT believe that the attackers should have been pardoned.
