Red herring

Definition: A “red herring” is something that misleads or distracts from a relevant or important question. President Trump and his accomplice, Todd Blanche, have used a “red herring” over the last couple of months to divert our attention from the fact that the January 6 rioters are filing for compensation through the Federal Tort Claims Act, or FTCA — which was created by Congress a number of years ago to compensate people it believes were victims of political persecution/prosecution. 

According to the Wall Street Journal, approximately 600 J6 rioters have already filed for compensation with more to come. They present their case to the Justice Department, and if the DOJ approves, the funds are distributed without any further approval by Congress or any other authority. 

Once again, Slick Willie Trump and Shoddy Toddy Blanche have one-upped the Congress of the United States, which is supposed to be a co-equal branch of our government! AFFORDABILITY and CORRUPTION are now the focal points of the upcoming midterm elections! Affordability we have known about and discussed for a long time, but Corruption has reared its ugly head with the news that our President, Donald J Trump, has amassed close to $2 billion in personal income during the first year of his second term. 

Article 2 Section 1 Subsection 7 of the US Constitution states: “The President shall, at stated times, receive for his services, a compensation, which shall neither be increased nor diminished during the period for which he shall have been elected, and he shall not receive within that period any other emolument from the United States, or any of them.” President George Washington, our first president, received a salary of $25,000. DJT, due to his pre-existing wealth, could have donated his $400,000 salary back to the US but chose instead to line his own pockets to the tune of almost $2 billion in his first year of term 2. So much for Patriotism!!
