by Brad Davis, Republican candidate for SD 44, Victor
I am a US Navy veteran, retired business owner, 40 year resident of Montana and a 31 year resident of Ravalli County. I am a Republican candidate for Senate District 44 and the only Republican candidate living in that district. I am writing a letter to the editor to announce my candidacy because I have not been able to receive any press coverage to do so.
I have spent my life in the outdoors hunting, fishing and trapping.See my website: braddavisforravallicounty.com for my story.
One of my opponents for Senate District 44, Wayne Rusk, decided in the last legislature to vote against HB 372. The bill, if passed would have given voters the ability to vote to add to the Montana constitution the right for all of us to be able to hunt, fish and trap forever. This is one reason but not my only reason I choose to enter the Republican primary for Senate District 44. On my website you will also see some of the issues I want to address but not all.
If elected, I will work to achieve property tax reform. Something that was not addressed in the last legislature.I will also work for safer highways including stronger DUI laws. In 2020, 66% of all people that died in auto accidents in Montana were by an impaired driver. We also need a much safer Hwy 93 which I will try my best to get corrected. Most of all, if elected I will work to provide a better life for all of us. I will listen to your concerns and work to bring improvements where I can. It’s time for someone to represent all of us instead of their own political agenda.
I am a Republican outsider candidate for Senate District 44. For example: I am not a member of the Ravalli County Republican Party. Even though I was invited to the Ravalli County Republican Women’s lunch for a debate, I chose not to attend. I would debate the other candidates in the race but I believe that a debate needs to be at a time where everyone can attend. The debate should not be controlled by the Ravalli County Republican Party.
So far I am a self-funded candidate. I feel strongly enough that things need to change to spend my own money for the campaign. If you notice on my website I have no place for donations. This is important and a factor to consider when voting. I am looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible and listening to your concerns. Again, see my website: braddavisforravallicounty.com, there you will also see a link to my facebook page where I have and will continue to post updates on my campaign.

Brad thanks for your service. We honor all our military – they are our heroes. I hope that you understand that we want a candidate for the senate district 44 that is more than hunting, fishing and trapping. While those are part of the Montana culture, we need someone who will understand why trapping especially is abhorrent to those who run across its abuses – namely, leaving animals to suffer in traps for days until they die or are attacked by other predators and killed. OR even worse, putting traps in streams where animals AND HUMANS cross who step on them. It is good you want to represent the people, but we want to actually talk to our representatives and interact with them but you seem to NOT want to do that. You refer all to your Facebook page rather than engage in telephone or face to face discussions. I for one do NOT appreciate a candidate for the senate in the state who will not post a phone number and always refers people to a Facebook page. Thanks but no thanks…that is so typical of the government that you are NOT what we are looking for in a senatorial candidate. but again – thanks for your service.
