For the first time ever, the Amani Children’s Choir will be entertaining audiences in our valley this week with joyful African music and dance. This tour group’s visit to Big Sky Country has been in the works for two years. Hosting the choir is Hamilton’s Mosaic Church on Main Street. The choir, from Kampala, Uganda has performed nationwide at major events such as an Operation Christmas Child global conference, Samaritan’s Purse headquarters, San Diego Zoo and many other public and church venues.
This group of 15 children, ages 10-16, will sing and dance their way into your heart. They are vibrant, fun and have wonderful messages to share through their performances.
The purpose of their visit is to share the love of God through music, dance and testimonies of what God has done in their lives. The Choir raises awareness of the need of destitute and orphaned children in Africa, and also raises funds for continued development and support of Light Africa programs in Uganda (visit amanichoir.org, lightafrica.org or kampalacommunitychurch.org for more info).
The Choir’s international tours provide unique training and exposure for the children. Once Choir members have completed a concert tour the children return to their homelands with the tools necessary for bettering their future and also serve as godly servant leaders in Africa, helping make other people’s lives better.
Three performances are scheduled: tonight, Wednesday, September 20 at 7 p.m. at Mosaic Church, 206 W Main St, Hamilton (two doors down from Naps); Thursday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bitterroot Valley Church of the Nazarene, 803 N. 5th Ave, Victor; and Sunday morning, September 24 at 10 a.m. at Mosaic Church, 206 W Main St, Hamilton.
Admission is free, but a free will offering will be available as well as their music CDs and handmade Ugandan gifts for purchase at each event.
