The Living Centre and Discovery Care Centre are now the official “dream builders” for the development of Lewis and Clark Park in Stevensville. Bill Watkins, owner of both facilities, has offered to match all funds raised, up to $100,000, in the current fund drive for Bear Mountain Playground.
The Living Centre and Discovery Care Centre, both leaders in independent and assisted living communities where skilled nursing services are provided, are giving back to the Stevensville community. With a progressive vision of Lewis and Clark Park, and a commitment to the future of the Stevensville community, they have offered to match 50 cents to the dollar on every donation raised for
Lewis and Clark Park up to $100,000.
This donation will not only help see that Bear Mountain Playground is completed, but also provide seed funds for the development of future phases of Lewis and Clark Park. Bear Mountain Playground is Phase 1. Upcoming phases at this time include a skate park and splash pad, both of which have significant community interest.
The generous donation from The Living Centre and Discovery Care Centre will be used to purchase materials and components for the playground.
“We will create a nice addition to the town of Stevensville… Let’s ‘make it happen’,” said Watkins.
“This level of support and monetary commitment from The Living Centre and Discovery Care Centre gives us such an advantage, not only in finishing Bear Mountain Playground, but also in jump-starting other improvements at Lewis and Clark Park once the playground is complete,” said Jessica Brunell who is co-chairing the Bear Mountain Playground Steering Committee along with Renee Endicott.
Bear Mountain Playground, to be located at Lewis and Clark Park, is a
citizen driven effort to create a unique community supported, safe and healthy play space usable by every child, including those with disabilities. Bear Mountain is being designed to meet the standards mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act to accommodate all children, including those who are emotionally
or physically challenged.
Bear Mountain playground will be built by hundreds of dedicated volunteers from all over the community, starting Wednesday, September 16 and continuing through Sunday, September 20, 2015.
