County Commission meetings now being streamed, archived

December 11, 2014 by Editor

Would you really like to see what your County Commissioners are up to but maybe you work from 9 to 5 and can’t make any of the meetings? Now you can! All you need is a computer with the minimum system requirements and you can come home, have dinner, then head to the living room, pull out the lap top, prop your feet up, maybe with a cold drink and some popcorn, and watch any meeting they had that day or any preceding day from beginning to end. If you have time to go to an important meeting but no way to get there, you can now watch it live on the internet from the comfort of your home, or even on your mobile device from some other location.
It’s as easy as pushing a button. Just go to www.ravalli.us. Scroll to the bottom of the page under Quick Links and click on Commission Meetings – Live Streaming. It will take you to a page called Ravalli County Streaming Media Archive. Archived videos are arranged by date, with the most recent at the top of the list. Click Video to watch the meeting with documents, or Agenda / Minutes to see just the documents. You can also search the archives by typing keywords into the Search box. Live and Archived video can be viewed on most desktop browsers and a range of popular mobile devices.
Video streaming typically requires the use of media plugins. While the necessary plugins will often come pre-installed, you may need to install or enable plugins to watch streaming video. Adobe Flash Player and Microsoft Silverlight are the recommended plugins if they are available for your system.

While certain platforms and web browsers are recommended, many other operating systems and web browsers can successfully stream videos. For example, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are both known to work on many platforms. Not all features are available to all web browsers on all platforms, however. Beta and pre-release versions of operating systems and web browsers are not supported.
