Kudos to Mr. Cornelius and Mr. Freeman for their letters to you in the November 19th edition.
I’m not a native of Hamilton nor Montana, however, I have lived in Hamilton for a good number of years, to the point where I am now 76.
There seems to be a segment in Hamilton of quite some size, who opposes the idea of a Wal-Mart in Hamilton.
It struck me sometime ago that out of the four grocery stores in Hamilton only one is locally owned. The others belong to large companies miles and miles away from here. Then comes K-Mart and Murdoch’s Ranch & Home Supply, not locally owned.
I would guess that the aforementioned segment of people is highly self satisfied, determined to have things their way, and virtually despises the thought that they are not correct in any and all of their thinking.
They are highly content with themselves and opposed to anyone that thinks differently than they do.
Polson has a Wal-Mart as well as the high and mighty town of Kalispell.
I can only hope that a Wal-Mart will be in Hamilton before I fade away.
As an afterthought, me thinks our republic dost come apart at the seams.
