The Jug Beck Wrestling Tournament in Missoula is one of the largest tournaments in the Northwest with teams from across Montana, Northern Idaho and even a few Washington teams competing. With over 900 wrestlers hitting the mats, to make it to the podium is an accomplishment. Hamilton/Victor, Corvallis/Darby and Florence all competed in the event. Each team had one wrestler that placed in the top eight.
Florence’s Torren Lawsen won a 2-0 decision over Dylan Cronkhite of Ferris in Spokane. This a first for Florence to have a wrestler on the podium at the Jug Beck. Corvallis’ Tyler Olsen took seventh at 138 pounds. He took a 7-4 decision of Tate LeClaire of Mead out of Spokane. Tyler Scheffer of Hamilton/Victor, lost to Dustin Odegard of Have and finished eighth. These two will probably meet again at the state meet.
