Habitat for Humanity breaks ground for next project

To some it may have looked like just a shovel moving some dirt on a sunny afternoon, but to the Borgens it was a symbol of hope for a better future. Stevi approves grant application for water works

By Michael Howell

The Stevensville Town Council has balked for some time at making an application for a grant from the Army Corps of Engineers (ACE) to make water system improvements because of basic uncertainties about the plan. Originally planned to fund the replacement of a water line from the town’s reservoir, among other things, the Council has been considering the abandonment of that system instead and possibly storing water closer to town in above-ground water towers. They approved application of the grant after consultants on the project assured them that the language in the grant application was general and broad enough to include either option in the end. County Road and Bridge Department Supervisor David Ohnstad scheduled an emergency meeting (not on the agenda) to meet with the County Commissioners last week and inform them that he was going to take down a fence that had been constructed in the roadway where Sunset Bench Road drops off the bench and intersects South Burnt Fork Road. More...
