Growth Policy repeal to appear on ballotBy Michael Howell Ravalli County Clerk and Recorder Regina Plettenberg affirmed Monday that the petition to place Repeal of the Growth Policy on the November ballot has been approved and the issue will be placed on the November ballot. Initiated by Dan Cox, the petition needed 15 percent of the registered voters, or 3,567 valid signatures, to be placed on the ballot. In a short time frame petitioners succeeded in gathering at least 3,588 valid signatures. More... Program benefits families, schoolsDaly Hospital continues successful program of Sports Physical Clinics Last Thursday night Ravalli County high school and middle school athletes flowed into the hallways of Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital. Dressed in shorts, tank tops, tans and flip flops, the athletes were there to take advantage of the first of two Sports Physical Clinics. The first clinic held Thursday night saw nearly 150 athletes participating in sports ranging from soccer, to cross-country to football and even speech and debate. More... More...FlatIron annexation proposal heads to zoning, planning boardsBy Michael Howell Progress has been slow, to say the least, for the FlatIron Ranch Subdivision, a proposal to create 622 residences on 494 acres of land southeast of Hamilton. It has been slow in both jurisdictions in which it is being pursued. Developer Ken Madden of Shiloh Development Inc., a Scottsdale, Arizona company, filed a subdivision application for the project with the county planning department in June of 2006. Although the land is situated about three miles southeast of Hamilton, an application for annexation into the City was also made about that time. More... Governor visits Daly MansionBy Michael Howell Governor Brian Schweitzer was on hand last Tuesday, August 5, to present a cardboard check for $50,000 to the Marcus Daly Mansion Preservation Trust. The check respresents the $50,000 allocation to the Trust by the 2007 Montana Legislature in House Bill 480. The Trust will actually receive $25,000 this year in the second and final installment from the state. More... 
Stevi seeks funds to redo water systemBy Michael Howell The Town of Stevensville is looking to fund a massive improvement of its drinking water system with funds garnered from at least six different granting agencies and a state sponsored loan. The entire renovation project, planned in three phases, will cost over $6.5 million. The implementation was scheduled to take place between April 2006 and June 2010.
