Violent storm sweeps through valley

An intense thunderstorm swept through the Bitterroot Valley last Tuesday, June 29, uprooting trees, snapping power poles off, overturning fireworks stands, ripping shingles off roofs and generally creating havoc across the valley, but especially at the north end between Florence and Lolo. More...

Stevensville pool opens

The Stevensville Swimming Pool is now open.

The pool was not going to be opened this summer as it was in need of various repairs. The Town of Stevensville is facing budget problems as well and decided to cut the pool budget. But the Stevensville community was not willing to sit by and let that happen. The Stevensville Community Foundation stepped up to the plate and began raising funds to make the necessary repairs. Lone Rock and Stevensville elementary school students also jumped in to help out with bake sales. Swank Enterprises, the construction company in charge of the Stevensville High School building project, also jumped on the bandwagon and sent four of their employees to help scrape old fiberglass off the pool walls. Darby park district on the ballot

The Ravalli County Commissioners have agreed to place a measure on the November election ballot that would create a Darby Parks and Recreation District. Corinne Anderson and Heidi Kaminski made their successful pitch for a district to the commissioners last Tuesday, June 23. More...
