Airport decision finalizedBy Michael Howell Its been a long time coming, but last Wednesday, April 7, the Ravalli County Commissioners finally rendered a decision concerning proposed improvements at the county airport and adopted one out of, basically, four alternatives, presented in the Environmental Assessment done by Morrison-Maierle Engineering. In a 3 to 2 vote the Commissioners adopted Alternative 2A Revised, an option strongly supported by the opponents to runway expansion, Informed Citizens Against Airport Runway Expansion (ICAARE). County and schools discuss bus routesBy Michael Howell The County Commissioners and officials from the County Road Department met with school transportation officials from up and down the valley last Thursday, April 8, to hear their concerns about the countys wintertime road maintenance policies. Most of the school transportation officials stated that over the last few years they have noticed that the bus routes are not being plowed and sanded prior to 7 a.m. This means that the plows are coming too late or even in conflict with the bus route traffic, making it a safety hazard for the children waiting at the bus stops.
