School, pantry agree on leaseVoters will have the final say By Michael Howell At its most recent meeting, Tuesday, February 10, the Stevensville School Board unanimously approved leasing an acre of land to Pantry Partners, a local service organization that provides free food to those in need. The organization plans on erecting a building that will house both the food distribution center and the Clothes Closet free store. On February 12, the Pantry Partners board of directors agreed to accept the school’s offer. Head Start breaks ground on Stevi preschoolBy Michael Howell From 1995 through the spring of 2007, Ravalli Head Start, Inc. operated a single classroom facility on the Lone Rock School campus until a septic system failure and the discovery of mold in the building forced the program to move. It relocated to the Fellowship Room of the Lone Rock Bible Church, where it operated through May 2008. This year, the program is in temporary space in an upstairs room above the new gym at the Stevensville School. More... GSK supports Ravalli Entrepreneurship CenterBy Michael Howell GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), an international pharmaceutical company with a facility located north of Hamilton, has stepped forward to play a key role in supporting the efforts of the Ravalli County Economic Development Agency (RCEDA), in developing the Ravalli Entrepreneurship Center (REC) to be located on four acres of land off of Old Corvallis Road. The proposed 16,000-square-foot facility will cost an estimated $3.2 million to build and will serve primarily as a business incubator. More... 
RCEDA Director Julie Foster spoke at the first official gathering of the Ravalli Entrepreneurship Center. The gathering was held last week at GSK's new dining facility on its laboratory campus south of Corvallis. Foster said groundbreaking for the proposed 16,000-square-foot facility was planned for early 2009 and a grand opening was planned for the fall.
