The Marcus Daly Hospice Tree of Lights memorial took place at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton on Thursday, December 11. The Tree of Lights ceremony is a community event designed to bring people together who wish to set aside time to remember loved ones that are now gone. This annual event was organized through the collective efforts of Marcus Daly Hospice staff and volunteers and honors the memory of many, some who have received hospice care and others who are connected to hospice through family members and friends. More... County considers animal control officerBy Michael Howell Last week Ravalli County Commissioners considered the possible hiring of an animal control officer. No decision was made, but the commissioners heard a pitch from Sue Majors, who currently works as a private investigator and is a member of the Animal Control and Protection Board, to consider using an independent contractor to do the job. County agrees to pay for excess vaccineBy Michael Howell The glitch in the response to a rabies exposure incident at the Stevensville School this fall was not in getting those exposed vaccinated in a timely manner. The glitch has more to do with who will pay for the vaccine and what to do with the excess vaccine. According to Ravalli County Commission Chair, Carlotta Grandstaff, the incident also shows the need to fine tune the countys emergency response procedures and clarify the role of all the parties involved.
