Commissioners can support Growth PolicyBy Michael Howell Deputy County Attorney Karen Mahar has given the Board of County Commissioners the green light to pass a resolution supporting the Growth Policy if they so choose. The Commissioners considered the resolution a few weeks ago, on Tuesday, September 30, but decided to pass it on to their attorney for review when questions were raised about the legality of the action. Critics claimed that passing such a resolution might violate state laws prohibiting public officials from soliciting support for, or in opposition to, ballot issues, in this case, the upcoming ballot issue to repeal the countys Growth Policy. More... Rabies vaccinations going wellBy Michael Howell According to Public Health Nurse Judy Griffin, the rabies vaccination clinics at Stevensville School have begun and are proceeding well. She told the County Commissioners last week that 91 people were interviewed and screened at the first clinic held on Tuesday, October 7. Of that number 71 decided to have the vaccine shots. More...
