Dear Editor,
I almost did not want to even give any further thought to the guest opinion by Theresa Manzella.
I now have concerns about a “animal helping” organization with people involved in it, speaking in such a negative way (devaluing animals in general), and in general people who try to help non-human animals. And, on top of it, heaven help us, the increasingly larger numbers of people who now eat a plant-based diet too.
People, many examples abound, who take an active role in helping animals, most often, do carry such compassion into kindness towards their fellow humans too, and at very least, do not try to harm others. I find the care/compassion “muscle” we can develop, when practiced regularly, knows no boundaries for people or animals. It applies to all. Fortunately, for mankind, Hitler-types are rare people, most people have normal working moral compasses. The fact your newspaper printed a just plain poorly thought out, low quality propaganda material is sad. Many myths about Hitler abound and about his personal life. It’s a hot button word to use Hitler’s behaviors to categorize others. Likely, Hitler also ate hamburgers and who knows what else. (Even if he was a vegetarian, so what!) With such thinking then are Montana-canine-loving people, all Hitlers?
