The Bitterroot Bucs and the Bitterroot Red Sox were at separate tournaments over the weekend. The Red Sox played in Three Forks where they blanked Havre, 16-0. They played Lewistown on Sunday but results were not available at press time.
The Bitterroot Bucs were in Dillon for a Wood Bat tournament. They finished fourth in the tournament but had some strong offensive play throughout the weekend.
The Bucs defeated the Mountain Home Royals out of Idaho, 4-2 in their second game of the weekend. Justin Beierle scored twice, including the go-ahead run when Austin Nogle had a base hit RBI. Zac Blackstun and Dan Lockman each had RBIs for the Bucs.
The Bucs lost to the Mission Valley Mariners, 8-7, in their second game on Friday. Riley Philips took the loss after relieving Blackstun. Philips had a double and Beierle went 2-for-3 with two runs. Austin Erler was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Blackstun also had an RBI.
The Bucs had their chances against the Missoula Pioneers but lost 6-4 with the bases loaded. Billy Hanna was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. The team turned around and defeated the Dillon Cubs, 4-1. Beierle had the hot bat with a double and an RBI. Tommy Shepard was on the mound for the win.
The Bucs battled Mountain Home for third place on Sunday morning but again came up a little short in a high scoring game. Coe Golden was 3-for-4 with a double and drove home three. Erler was perfect at bat, going 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Justin Medlin also finished with 3 RBIs, a double and was 3-for-4.
