Meeting scheduled for Hwy 93 access management plan

December 11, 2013 by Editor

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to develop an access management plan for U.S. Highway 93 in the Hamilton area. The plan begins at Angler’s Roost Bridge just south of Hamilton at reference post 43.7 and extends north through Hamilton for 5.3 miles, ending just south of the Bitterroot River at reference post 49.0.

The plan will identify a long-term conceptual strategy to help preserve efficient traffic flow along U.S. Highway 93 while providing reasonable access to adjacent properties and businesses. Two public informational meetings and individual contacts with adjacent property owners will occur during the development of the plan.

A website including project overview, schedule, FAQ’s and related links is located at the following link:

http://www.mdt.mt.gov/pubinvolve/hamiltonaccess/

MDT has scheduled the first open house/informational meeting to discuss this proposed plan. The open house will be held Tuesday, December 17 at 6 p.m. at the Hamilton Middle School Auditorium, 209 S. 5th St, Hamilton. A short presentation will begin at 7 p.m.

Community participation is a very important part of the process, and the public is encouraged to attend. Opinions, comments and concerns may be submitted in writing at the meeting, by mail to Ed Toavs, District Administrator, Missoula district office, PO Box 7039, Missoula MT 59807, or online at www.mdt.mt.gov/mdt/comment_form.shtml. Indicate that comments are for project UPN 8122 and submit comments by January 17, 2014.

MDT attempts to provide accommodations for any know disability that may interfere with a person’s participation in any service, program or activity of our department. If you require reasonable accommodations to participate in the meeting, please call Paul Grant at (406) 444-9415 at least two days before the meeting. For the hearing impaired, the TTY number is (406) 444 7696 or 1-800-335-7592, or call the Montana Relay at 711. Alternative accessible formats of this information will be provided upon request.
