‘Jacket boys clinch soccer championship

The Stevensville boys’ soccer team secured a home playoff berth throughout the playoffs as they clinched the Southwest A soccer championship on Thursday. The Yellowjackets defeated Frenchtown, 6-1. As they have been doing all season, the boys in black scored early and built an insurmountable lead.

Chance Coleman had a hat trick with goals at the 18-minute mark, the 60-minute mark and eight minutes later at the 68-minute mark. He had an assist from Quade Renstrom on the first goal. Daniel Pendergast scored off of a Joseph Fecteau assist at the 11-minute mark. Pendergast fed the ball to Joseph Daniels at 20 minutes for another goal. Daniels then had an own goal at 38 minutes. Stevensville took 15 shots on goal while Frenchtown was held to five. Daniel Bradt had five saves as keeper for the Yellowjackets. Frenchtown’s Colton Lerette had nine saves.

The Stevensville girls defeated Frenchtown, 4-2, in Southwest A soccer action. Although Frenchtown scored first, the Stevensville girls came back and scored just past the mid point of the first half when Hannah Dishman took a Carly Sebastian pass and drilled the net. Two minutes later, at the 28th minute, Kayla Peterson hit an unassisted goal. Frenchtown again scored right after the half but at 44 minutes, Dishman took the ball to the net with a goal. Beth Ulrich then scored at 46 minutes off of a Dishman assist. Stevensville took 17 shots on goal while Frenchtown had 16 shots. Evie Tiplady had 13 saves for Stevensville and Frenchtown’s Keegan Wickman had 10 saves.

Hamilton was host to Corvallis for more homecoming festivities on Saturday on the soccer pitch. The Corvallis boys defeated Hamilton, 4-1. Riley DellaSilva scored just after the start of the game but then it was Corvallis the rest of the way. Kaiam Syester took a Justin Ruecker assist in for the goal at 17 minutes. That was followed by Cameron Ayers hitting the net off an Enes Halili assist. Ruecker and Syester switched roles at 36 minutes with Syester feeding Ruecker for the goal. Syester also scored the final goat at 69 points off of a DJ Pekoc assist. Corvallis took 24 shots on goal and had 13 corner kicks. Hamilton had seven shots on goal and had three corner kicks. Casey Ryter of Hamilton had nine saves. Shelby Gifford had four saves for Corvallis.

The Hamilton girls defeated Corvallis, 1-0, in a hard fought match. Karissa Pfantz took a Bri Huggans pass in for the only goal at 52 minutes. Hamilton’s Taylor Goligoski had three saves while Roxy Rademacher had nine saves. Corvallis took three shots on goal and Hamilton took 20.
