My family and I attended the Ravalli County Fair last week and it was so much fun! We rode the rides, ate the eats and visited with friends and neighbors we ran into along the way. Everything we LOVE about living in our hometown! At the beginning of the rodeo, a little gal sang the National Anthem while the American flag was flown around the arena on horseback – it was incredibly moving!! The entire arena was silent and paid their respects as the flag made its away around and around the arena…well, EXCEPT for the woman and two girls standing right next to us. They talked through the entire thing! Regular tone of voices, just carrying on a conversation. I couldn’t believe it! My husband and I each tried to ssshhh them (quietly as not to FURTHER disturb everyone around us) to no avail…they made eye contact then just kept talking!
So this letter is directed to you – the person who has no respect for the National Anthem of the United States of America. Next time? Take your hat off, face the American flag, put your right hand over your heart, and be quiet for two whole minutes. It’s the absolute LEAST you can do to show respect for our country, the troops currently standing the duty, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. For ALL of us.
