August 7, 2013 by Editor

Charles Wright.1

Stevensville – Charles (Always) Wright passed away at his home in Stevensville after suffering a heart attack.

He was born to Jessie Mae and Charles Allen “Pete” Wright, Senior. Upon graduating Stevensville High School Class of 1959, he attended the Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, MN. After graduation, he began working at Beebe’s Bakery in Missoula, MT where he met the love of his life, Colleen Farrow. The two were married August 31,1963. They have four children and he was a very proud, loving, generous and devoted husband, father and family man. He loved his extended family and friends; no one was a stranger; and he was well known for providing abundant encouragement to everyone, no matter the situation.

After developing an allergy to the chemicals used to age flour, he went to work for the state highway department and worked for 10 years on the I-90 corridor from the top of Lookout Pass to Drummond, MT. In the summer of 1974 he began working for the Missoula County Surveyor’s Office and worked his way up to retire as the Assistant Public Works Director – Surveyor in 2008.

He was a long-time member of Montana Association of Registered Land Surveyors and served as president elect, president, secretary/treasurer, continuing education chairman and delegate to Western Federation of Professional Surveyors. Additionally, he served as continuing education chairman and board member for Western Federation of Professional Surveyors. He so believed in his profession and education that he started his own business, Western Seminars, and provided education at seminars related to surveying topics for various audiences including surveyors, lawyers, civil engineers, appraisers, real estate agents, federal, state, and local governmental officials, and title companies.

While he had many interests and did many things throughout his life, one of his more prominent interests was coaching Babe Ruth basepall at all levels and he proudly helped coach the 1986 team that went to Commerce, GA to participate in the World Series where they placed fifth out of 17,144 teams.

He is preceded in death by his sister Delores, father Pete, mother Jessie and sister Donna.

He is survived by his wife Colleen of Stevensville; chiidren Sheila of Missoula, MT, Terry of McKinney, TX, Mark (Georgiann) of Kuna, lD and Leo of Draper, UT; brothers Don (Donna) of Visalia CA and Dan of Stevensville, MT; grandchildren Tierney (Tom) Knapp, Keaton Gillihan, Chase Wingfield. Jasmine Wingfield, Delaney Gillihan, Elijah, and Emmaleigh; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 10 at the Stevensville United Methodist Church, 216 College Street, Stevensville, MT with Pastor Ron Phillips officiating. A reception will follow.

Condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
