The Ravalli County Planning Department is inviting public comment on a floodplain permit application for proposed work on property at the east end of Wildwood Lane, within the floodplain of the Bitterroot River. The project involves the installation of (2) new 36” HDPE culverts across (2) low lying swales to provide vehicle access to the property. The project is located along the west side of the Bitterroot River west of Stevensville, in Section 27, Township 9 North, Range 20 West, Ravalli County. The applicant is Richard Ochsner. The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) will conduct a public hearing for a conservation easement proposed through Ravalli County’s Open Lands Bond Program. The proposal is known as the Laursen Property Application, and is comprised of two parcels totaling 244 acres. The properties are located approximately 3 miles east of Stevensville, along Middle Burnt Fork Road. (See Map)
The properties are described as: A tract of land located in the E ½ of Section 31 and the NW ¼ of Section 32 all in Township 9 North, Range 19 West, P.M.M., Ravalli County, Montana, and being more particularly described as Tract G and F, Certificate of Survey No. 613903-R.
The E ½ NE ¼ Section 31, and the W ½ NW ¼ Section 32; all in Township 9 North, Range 19 West, P.M.M., Ravalli County, Montana, and all as recorded in Book 215 Deeds, Page 574.
The applicants are Dave and Mari Laursen, with Bitter Root Land Trust acting as the Sponsoring Organization. Information describing the proposal is available for inspection at the Planning Department, in the County Administrative Center, 215 S. 4th Street, Suite F, Hamilton, MT 59840. Written comments are encouraged to be submitted to the Planning Department prior to the public hearing, and will be forwarded to the BCC for consideration at the public hearing. The BCC will conduct a public hearing on this proposal on Thursday, July 25th, 2013, at 10:00am in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room of the County administrative building, located at 215 South 4th Street, in Hamilton. Comments and information submitted at the public hearing will be considered in the decision on the Laursen Property Conservation Easement.
