Revolutions have collateral damage

April 1, 2025 by Guest Post

by Ed Sperry, Col USAF (ret), Stevensville

Thank God the war against federal fraud, waste and overreach is underway. It’s decades overdue. The loss of federal jobs is an unfortunate facet of the vital change. There are real concerns and challenges facing those affected. It is interesting to read the clamor in the Star which bemoans the loss of some federal jobs. What a bunch of hypocrites! Put on your thinking cap and ask where were these loud voices when thousands of Montana workers lost their jobs during the past few decades when the great “wars” were raging against productive elements of our society? Their silence was deafening; they were off saving the planet. I’m referring to the following crusades:

The war against THE TIMBER INDUSTRY

The war against THE COAL INDUSTRY

The war against THE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY

Plus numerous other great environmental crusades. Talk about loss of jobs!

Press on, President Trump. If you fall it’s the end of our republic!

Yes Ed, it is not the same world I remember. The big old growth forests are a tiny fraction of what they used to be. Unfortunately, it takes hundreds of years to grow big trees. The easy to harvest and economically suitable trees have been harvested. Demand for timber is not what it used to be. Consequently, the timber industry has changed. The biggest change of all, however, has been our warming climate. Burning of fossil fuels has got to go by the wayside. Let’s convert the jobs in coal and petroleum to solving the climate emergency. We can easily make these changes if we have the will to do so.

Wait until they come for HIS pension. I don’t believe this guy is a colonel.

Why does Sperry constantly feel the insecure need to lean on his former rank in a civilian world?
