Blue Devils win dual with Broncs

January 17, 2013 by Jean Schurman

The night originally had three teams competing in a wrestling mixer at Corvallis but Mother Nature and bad roads kept Butte Central from making the trip to Corvallis on Thursday. But even without the Maroons, the two remaining teams had tough matches and had a nice tune up for the Jug Beck meet in Missoula over the weekend.
Corvallis won the dual against Hamilton but Hamilton had a couple of great wins with Tyler Scheffer pinning Sam Burdette and Easton Albert pinning Baylee Burt. Corvallis’ Josh Venema pinned Kyle Lubke in what could be a preview of the championship match at the Southwest A divisional in a couple of weeks.
The two teams also competed at the Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic in Missoula on Friday and Saturday. The event featured 31 teams from Montana, Idaho and Washington and more than 500 wrestlers. Corvallis finished 21st and Hamilton farther down in the group. Great Falls High was the overall winner.
