The Florence Falcons flexed their muscles this weekend against two tough teams, the Loyola Sacred Heart Breakers and the Bigfork Vals, on the volleyball court. The experienced Florence team didn’t lose a game in either match.
The Florence team, who went to state last year without a senior on the team, is experienced and have complete trust in each other. They spent a lot of time in the gym and on the court this summer and have hit the ground running this fall. That was evident Thursday against Loyola. They gym is always filled when Loyola is in town and the hometown crowd is loud. However the Florence volleyball team was focused and got right to work. The Falcons clobbered the Breakers in the first match, 25-10, and went on to win in straight sets.

The Falcons also made short work of Bigfork on Saturday. Casey Mann had nine kills and Courtney Byrne had four kills for the Falcons in the non-conference game.

Stevensville dropped a couple of matches over the weekend. The Yellowjackets lost to Polson in four games in non-conference action. Tralyn Gardner had four aces and Kyla Paulson had 11 kills for the ‘Jackets.

It was another Jackets when they went up against the Dillon Beavers. Although Stevensville won the first game of the match, they were unable to take control and lost 3-2. Mackenzie Zimmerman had 12 kills for the ‘Jackets.

Corvallis only had one match this weekend, against conference foe Anaconda. The Copperheads came out strongly and won the first game but the Blue Devils were not to be put down. They rallied for the second game and won by six points. Again, Anaconda came back to win the third game and again, the Blue Devils rallied for the fourth game, setting up the final game. The Copperheads went on to win that game and the match. Corvallis was led by Laura Berner who had 20 assists and two aces. Kelsey Irwin added 20 kills and had three blocks. Ale Price had 26 digs and Katie Patterson had a couple of aces.
Darby split their matches for the weekend. They lost to Lincoln in four games and then came back to defeat Philipsburg in three games.
Lincoln won the first game of the Western C match but Darby rallied in the second and won that game, 25-20. Brianna Massey had nine kills and four digs for the Tigers.

The Tigers were led by Massey against Philipsburg. Massey had nine kills and three blocks. Keely Ehmann had nine digs and four aces in the win as well.
