I was horrified when I got my mail-in ballot and discovered there were next to no Democrats running in our county. My first question was, are folks afraid to run for office? The partisan toxicity in our country is over the top, no question. So here’s my response. Please watch an alternative news cycle, someplace different than your normal viewing. Just for a day or two. Pay attention to different points of view. Do your questioning at another web source than your usual. Multiple points of view are good. They generate a thoughtful approach to voting, not just an angry one.

For instance, did you know Republican politicians want to take away Social Security and Medicare within five years? Rick Scott (leader of the National Republican Party Senatorial Committee) and Kevin McCarthy (House Minority Leader) have both stated this publicly. Look it up at https://checkyourfact.com or https://factcheck.org.

Have I exaggerated? Both men want to force a legislative vote every five years to keep or abolish Social Security and Medicare. Does this mean if you are living on Social Security, your ability to pay your mortgage or medical bills, even buy groceries, will depend on the political makeup of Congress? Yes. Look it up. Please. Find out what politicians want to do to this country. Republican leaders want to take away the freedom of women to choose their own healthcare. They want to force your children to only read certain books, learn certain facts about our history. They want you to only practice the Christian religion in the United States. Am I right? Look it up.

    Pam – puh leez stop spouting misinformation you just spread in your post above about social security and Republicans – its not true. It makes you a hypocrite of the first class. I suggest you read about social security and how it has been raped, pillaged, and abused by both parties starting back in the 1980’s. And it wasn’t only social security they robbed, but OBAMA took 718 BILLION DOLLARS from Medicare to pay for Obamacare. Remember that theft?

    Stop with your nonsense and educate yourself. Look and see what the problem is and it is us – voters. Look at the ones we have sent to congress and their abysmal performance. The problem is the same now with Monica TRANEL who wants to spend government dollars to “fix” the housing crisis in the valley while blaming air bnb for the shortage of homes available for those who want a first home. This DEMOCRAT hypcrite owns $50K stock in Airbnb and she makes money while disparaging it and trying to confuse folks as to how she will “FIGHT FOR” Montana. Fight AGAINST it is more like it. Taking a second home AWAY from those who have them for their own financial purposes is NOT the job of a congress person and neither is SPENDING taxpayer dollars to provide a home for those who should save and work two jobs if they want a home like many of us did when younger. STOP WITH YOUR NONSENSE. Educate YOURSELF or we will hold you in contempt like YOU hold those of us who are not illogical, lacking intelligence Democrats who voted for a mentally ill man and knew he was such! You should look in the mirror! Shame on you! when the country fails and it is headed that way, YOU are to blame.
