The volleyball teams for Victor and Darby squared off in Victor on Saturday, October 8th in a Class C battle between two valley schools. In a highly competitive match, Victor won in four sets, 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 26-24, 26-24). Victor senior Abby Kay led the way with 11 kills and five aces, senior Virginia Brown had five digs, and senior Kyla Tacker had 10 assists and six aces.
When asked about this year’s team, Victor coach Amber Kay said, “We have a solid group of athletes this year who have played together since middle school. They have a lot of talent and drive and when they find their groove they’re unstoppable.” Kay continued, “I’m excited to see what happens come tournament time – anything can happen!”
Darby got solid play from setter Reanna Golden, outside hitters Makena Hawkinson, Kimberly Berry, and Sierra Reed, and middle blockers Madison Nelson and Maya Smith. Victor played at undefeated Drummond on Tuesday, October 11th and lost 0-3, and will play at Valley Christian on Thursday, October 13th. Darby plays at Phillipsburg on Thursday, October 13th and at Lincoln on Saturday, October 15th.
